Whether you are day paddling and the wind picks up or planning a 2 month expedition into remote wilderness, you need to look closely at North Water’s Canoe Spray Decks. We are proud to say our decks have been the choice for just about every major canoe expedition over the last 10 years. Used by and developed with some of North America’s top Outfitters, the utility and flexibility of these decks are second to none. From the materials we use to the attachment system, these decks easily adjust for a perfect fit, regardless of load height, temperature expansion or contraction. This page contains information about our standard Spraydeck and some of the options available. The Measurements page is an easy-to-follow measurement sheet that allows you to choose your options, fill in dimensions and get us started on building your Custom Spraydeck. To guarantee your spray deck will fit perfectly we require a completed MEASUREMENT FORM for all boats.

Standard Deck Features

1) Cargo Hatch L 18" x W 23"
Allows easy access to gear during the day (lunch, cameras, etc.). YKK coil zipper secures the hatch while a 420 nylon cover with hook and loop helps shed water and keep the zipper free of dirt and grit.

2) Cockpit
Constructed of high quality waterproof nylon, with 2" Hook and loop closure for safe easy access in and out. This closure provides the fastest method of escape in an emergency. When paddling calm waters the cockpits can be tucked under the deck to provide better ventilation.

3) 14 oz Vinyl Coated Polyester
The deck fabric is durable, waterproof, mold and mildew (UV resistant).  Due to the nature of the fabric it is easily to maintain and repair in the field with Vinyl-Tec 2000 (50ADH-05), sold separately.
Available in Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Burgundy or Teal.

4) Painter Tie Down
Hook and loop closure at the bow and stern to keep painter lines organized and safe.

5) Paddle Pocket
The paddle pocket allows paddlers and easy access to a spare paddle under emergency situations.
Standard placement of the paddle clasp is ~40" from the base of the pocket.

6) 3/4" Nylon Webbing Deck Loops
Webbing loops provide contact points approximately every 10" for lacing the deck to the canoe.

7) Lashing Patches
To lash your deck to your canoe we use a system that is easy to install, and allows adjustment of load height while keeping the deck drawn tight to eliminate pooling. Safe and easy to repair in the field, they will not corrode or jam and are unlikely to catch on branches. Attached to the inside your boat they allow the use of a single pull lashing cord to tighten the deck.

8) 3" Rub Strips
Protects your deck from paddle and general wear and tear along the gunwales.

9) Paraline Lashing Cord
Rated to >300Lbs.

Note: the Solo Spray Deck comes with all the standard features of the Tandem, but with one cockpit.

Colour Selection:
Your deck will be constructed of a durable waterproof 14 oz Hercules material.
You can choose from the following colours:

A multi-piece deck, allows more access to stowed gear also enabling the pieces of the deck to stay in place or be removed when conditions warrant. Using 2" hook and loop at the joints, they attach atop a thwart when possible.

For a third passenger (kids or a dog) or if you are paddling solo with a tandem boat you may want to add a center cockpit. If you paddle a solo boat you may want to add an additional cargo hatch in the bow. The combinations are only limited to the amount of deck space available.
PORTAGE CARGO HATCH	40SP-13
Running most of the distance between the fore and aft cockpits, this cargo hatch is large enough to expose your portaging yoke so you do not need to remove the deck for a portage. The extra large opening also makes getting your gear easier.

ADDITIONAL PADDLE POCKET 40SP-06 In the interest of safety and convenience a second paddle pocket can be added to the deck. This will ensure that you will have immediate access when necessary.
